Print research 2013 end of second year
Artists looked at for print research:
( All previous research below for general research and type projects)
( All previous research below for general research and type projects)
Looking at artists that work with/on people and change the face
Entitled 'ZOMBIE'
Use of colour and detailing around the top
Colour separation and portraits
Horror prints
Backgrounds:
The reason im posting this is because of how the background changes the image, im guessing if it were on a simple white it wouldn't have the same effect. It looks textured and makes the image grainy
Monster screen prints

My works- The brothers three
PRE-PRINTED
So in the current project, we worked with already printed images.
I worked with map...
I thought it would be the best image to work with to create a narrative
to continue what we were working on in print...
I knew what i wanted to achieve when i printed onto the maps
So these are the ones that i scanned in
This is the one i like most and took the longest to make,
Mostly through thought, i took me a while to deiced what i wanted to do with this image....
I saw the three men as brothers, who own the land.
I thought there facial expressions looked greedy and somewhat evil.
Plus because its on a map i saw it as land, landlords of a sort...
I scrolled through images to find some old photos of working people, I wanted a variety of people to show the many types of people working on this land.
I also blanked out there eyes, more of invisible people.
The way it was printed also helped the image, the Main one thats clean and crisp is the man who owns the land currently and the other two are brothers who have either inherited the land or will inherit it...
So i went on to put Dollar signs over his eyes, much like they do in Movies when greedy men get a hold of it...
lastly i added a quote, something to tie it all together
This follower a similar story of the above, The red square shows an infected area,
Where the brothers have moved and poverty stricken people are trying to get away( see underneath image )
This followers from the above image, I hand pointed onwards away from the brothers to better lands
This is last image i will upload of this series, The aim of this one was the spread of the brother, the others have left but his reign over the land spreads. I aimed to make the rings like a radar signal ...
OR you could interpret the image as his reign Falling, his power is weakening over the land, Maybe his brothers have being assassinated and he is the land remaining?
I think the Maps created a greta base for a narrative with ' The brothers three'
Hot chip Posters-
One of the best way to find artist and whats out there is just looking, the internet, magazines..
So i simply typed in- Screen print
And this neat little study popped up
'White Duck Screen prints'
I looked around their site for a while, also looking at there blog...
They seem to work with some pretty well-known clients and make some amazing work!
What first popped up was the Hot chop posters
They remind me of the tests they do for colour blind people
Eelus
Not all of his work are screen prints but i really do enjoy them all!
Especially this one, im really quite interested in people ( as to my Me me me project)
And i like the blacked out effect? ( im not overlay sure what its called?)
But you can still see its a person and there features.
Kelly Sweeney Screen prints
I came across this artist a few weeks ago, I was immediately drawn to the vibrant colours!
Something we visited earlier in print about colours that make the image stronger....
when i look closer i can also see many overlapping images! so i assume over prints?
which again is something we worked with earlier in the term

Making a screen/Printing/ Removing the image
I found this video extremely helpful!
it runs through from making the screen, applying the image- printing on to the t-shirt then removing the image off the screen.
Screen printers in LA
I found this video very informative, Its nice to see other people printing in completely diffrent ways to the way we do here.
But it does link at some points during the video, Especially with the person who re-worked all his prints and they were beautiful.
It was also great to see people printing manually and then the machine printing
Andy warhol
Some of the most regocniable prints of our time.
Any warhols Marilyn monroe pop art prints are well known well wide..
